If Only by Norma Budden Out Now

Demi made the heartbreaking choice as a teenager to give up her daughter for adoption, now sixteen years later she is desperate to find her and she feels she is in danger, but two private detectives come back to her empty handed and she knows she has to take the case to her high school boyfriend and the child’s father to get the answers she needs because she knows he won’t give up. Once Demi and David start looking for their daughter they will uncover the truth but it may be more than they can handle especially when life is throwing them other curves and pushing them together. Can they find their daughter and find a way to get on with their lives? I liked the dynamics between the characters especially as the story unfolded and the characters continued to develop. As a mom myself i could imagine what Demi was feeling even though I have never been in her situation. A great family story with heart and soul and a mystery too.

A Sneak Peek for Breaking Sky by Cori McCarthy Contest, buy links, Character Bio and More

I have new information since I mentioned this book recently.  I have had a chance to read it thanks to an advance copy from the publisher that was furnished via Net Galley.  I love Nix, I love all her quirks and her pain that she channels into being the best at what she does, but like all great characters and people she is not alone.  Here is information about some of her fellow characters, an excerpt, advance praise other than mine, buy links and a giveaway.  This post is longer than most so make sure you scroll down so you don’t miss any great stuff. I will post a more detailed review on March 4th which is publication day, but until then this will have to do.  You are going to love this one trust me…

A Teaser:

“Nyx!” Riot bounded through the rec room. He leaped over the rope and wrapped Chase in a crush of a hug.

“I went to your room to catch you. Pippin said you were in Kale’s office.” His face pressed to hers in a way that made her want to pull away, but she gave him a quick squeeze instead.

“We thought you guys were going to die,” he said. “Didn’t we, Sylph?”

Chase let go. “Not even close,” she lied.

Riot was the tallest in their class but on the thin side for flight crew. He had an annoying habit of putting his chin on the top of her head, and yet he was quirky cute with kissable, full lips. “We tried to fly back out to you, but—”

Sylph elbowed him out of the way. “Keep it in your pants, Riot.”

Hush Hush a Tess Monaghan Novel by Laura Lippman Feb 24th

I love Tess.  I love her quirky life style, her aunt Kitty, her other half Crow and I was glad to get to know her daughter Carla Scout in this new adventure.  Tess finds herself wrapped up in a cold case that has gone hot once again.  A decade ago a mother killed her child and after getting the help she needed left the country leaving behind two daughters and an ex husband, but now ten years later she has returned to try to mend the fences with her daughters and put her life back together.  A tough task which will involve opening up old wounds and bringing painful hidden truths to light if the past is to be laid to rest and the family is going to find a way forward.  Tess must face her own demons and decide what kind of life she wants for herself and her family.  For those of you who have not yet met Tess she has the spunk and nerve of Stephanie Plum and a huge heart to go with it.

Breaking Sky by Cori McCarthy Out Today

I know some of you are probably a bit tired of hearing about this book but it is out in the world today so let’s talk about it one more time.  I love Nix she is a fighter, not afraid of anything and crazy as well.  She is the kind of teen girl I often wanted to be she grabs life and takes what she wants, or that is what she wants everyone to believe.  She is the top pilot in her elite program and she plans to stay at the top no matter what, but she learns that she may not have the whole picture about the program and about some of her co pilots and friends which is probably fair since they don’t know the whole story about her either.  I loved Nix’s attitude and ambition, but I also liked getting to know her and the sides of her that she didn’t let others see.  The plot and pace of this novel are hold onto your seat intense, the story grabs you and pulls you in.  I finished it the same day I started it and now I can’t wait for someone else i know to read it because I want to talk about it.  I want to once again thank Net Galley and Source Books for giving me a chance to read this one before it hit the shelves.  And I will leave you with something unusual.  Nix talks about seeing the Chapel at the Air Force Academy.  I know there are better picturs out there, but this is a personal shot from a trip I took to Colorado.  Enjoy the picture and the book.

Breaking Sky by Cori McCarthy March 2015 Sneak Peek

I don’t often do this because quite frankly i am not usually asked to be part of such events, but today I get to give you a sneak peek of a book that is on my TBR list and I think it will end up on yours as well.  Breaking Sky is gritty, fast paced and a page turner.  Thank you to Source Books and Net Galley for letting me be part of such a great event.

How to be a Heroine Samantha Ellis February 3rd

This book is a charming and somewhat tongue in cheek look at life though the eyes and lives of fictional characters from Sylvia Plath to Anne of Green Gables to the Little Women and Louisa May Alcott.  Interspersed with literary characters are stories of the authors life growing up.  I found it touching and heartwarming and an interesting way to look at life.
